Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Special Education teaching opportunities are available throughout Kansas City, KS, with openings for educators specializing in resource and self-contained classrooms serving K-12 students. Multiple vacancies provide a range of teaching assignments, including Life Skills, Autism, Medically Fragile, and Specialized Learning Classroom (SLC) settings.

  • Caruthers Elementary: 2 Life Skills Teachers
  • Douglas Elementary: 1 Autism Teacher
  • Frances Willard: 1 Life Skills/Medically Fragile Teacher
  • Lowell Brune: 1 SLC Teacher
  • New Chelsea: 1 SLC Teacher
  • Silver City: 1 Medically Fragile Teacher, 1 Life Skills/SAILS Teacher
  • Stony Point South: 1 SLC Teacher
  • Welborn Elementary: 1 SLC Teacher
  • Argentine: 1 SLC Teacher
  • Arrowhead: 1 Behavior Specialist Consultant (BSC) Teacher
  • Central: 1 SLC Teacher
  • Eisenhower: 1 SLC Teacher

Caseload sizes range from 8 to 18 students.

Key

Qualifications:

  • Active Kansas teaching licensure in Special Education is required.
  • Experience working with diverse special education populations, including students with autism, life skills needs, or medical fragility.
  • Ability to successfully manage both resource and self-contained classroom settings.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Flexibility and dedication to meet individual student needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Provide direct instruction, behavior management, and support services in classrooms.
  • Collaborate with families, administrators, and support staff to promote student success.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state and district guidelines.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings.
