As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you'll serve full-time in a partner public school, providing academic, social-emotional, and attendance support to students. You will deliver tutoring and small-group instruction, mentor students to build positive relationships and growth mindsets, and track progress with teachers and school staff. In City Year's collaborative, inclusive culture, you'll receive training, coaching, and professional development while contributing to educational equity and helping create a safe, engaging learning environment where all students can thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class and small-group academic support to students in core subjects
  • Mentor students to build strong relationships and support social-emotional development
  • Monitor student attendance and engagement, implementing strategies to improve participation
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to identify student needs and track progress
  • Support a positive, inclusive classroom and school climate
  • Lead or assist with after-school programs, enrichment activities, and student clubs
  • Collect and report data on student outcomes and intervention effectiveness
  • Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development
  • Communicate regularly with teammates and supervisors to coordinate services
  • Model City Year's values of service, social justice, and respect for diverse communities
