Nexperia is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Director/R&D Strategist to align technology developments with business objectives. This senior leader will blend technical expertise with strategic business acumen to deliver competitive advantages, commercialize new technologies, drive innovation, create long‑term R&D plans, and optimize new product design execution to grow the company by focusing on market trends, competitive intelligence, and technology roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning – align research goals with overall corporate strategy, determine which products or technologies to pursue, identify new growth opportunities and competitive threats, and act as a bridge between engineering and business units.
  • Portfolio Management – balance the R&D pipeline between immediate product enhancements and long‑term, high‑risk, high‑reward innovations, and mitigate development risk by maximizing IP reuse across business units.
  • Cross‑Functional Leadership – collaborate with business teams, foundries, and customers to translate requirements into technical solutions and build Nexperia‑wide competence by spreading knowledge and mentoring engineers at all levels.
  • Technology & Market Intelligence – continuously monitor industry trends and technological advancements, identify potential disruptive technologies and new opportunities, drive innovation by evaluating and implementing new technologies, and create regular publications, presentations, white papers, and patents.
Hard Skills
  • 10+ years of semiconductor devices and industrial semiconductor technology experience.
  • 10+ years of expertise across multiple aspects of new product research and development.
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership skills, deep technical expertise, and a proven track record of driving innovation.
  • High ability to judge new technologies concerning their possible application.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to evaluate engineering and business values and risk.
  • Ability to handle diversified activities with conflicting interactions and resolve conflicting requirements.
Soft Skills
  • Delivering on commitments – always demonstrating full accountability for own work package or project deliverables.
  • Continuously looking for opportunities to reduce time to market.
  • Showing critical judgment, entrepreneurial mindset, and contributing to building ‘winning teams’.
