Position: Professional Geologist at The State of Kansas Kansas

The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) is recruiting a Professional Geologist for its Conservation Division Central Office in Wichita, Kansas.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

The Professional Geologist will execute responsibilities in the Production and Underground Injection Control (UIC) portions of the joint Department.

  • Review and process Intents to Drill, Intents to Plug, and Plugging Reports.
  • Administer the Commission rules and regulations pertaining to the protection of correlative rights and prevention of waste of oil and natural gas resources, and oversee each oil/gas well during its producing life from drilling to plugging.
  • Review and process UIC injection applications as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, agricultural or natural sciences/resources or related field as determined relevant by agency personnel.
  • Professional geology license recognized by the Kansas Board of Technical Professions.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Experience proofreading, editing, and composing documents.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing effectively and respectfully.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Post‑offer requirement:
    Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate, to be obtained within 10 days of the offer letter.
