Mission / Purpose of the Job
The EPC Chemical Sales Specialist is responsible for selling new equipment to EPC companies and A&E engineering companies supporting the Process Markets (Chemical, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, etc.) and the industry key end‑user accounts. They communicate with customers to facilitate both contract and bid management, and deliver on the sales targets established for this position through the establishment and maintenance of the sales relationship with each EPC and/or end‑user client/prospect at every level from the executive suite to departmental line managers, engineers and procurement.
MainResponsibilities
- Bid management, including coordinating the various Inside Sales, Outside Sales, and Operations inputs required for timely completion of budgetary, firm or engineering‑only bids.
- Contract management, including coordinating NDA and/or T&C reviews with internal Legal, Sales and Compliance teams and customer reviews of the same.
- Development of standard work and processes around the scheduling and completion of bid submittals.
- Maintaining accountability for having third‑party bids reviewed for technical compliance with customer requirements.
- Aiding in negotiating resolution of pre‑sale technical and commercial issues.
- Participating in risk management activities required for internal compliance.
- Maintaining performance measurements (actuals versus targeted estimates) for RFQ milestones.
- Assisting in developing strategies to win business (projects) through the competitive bidding process.
- Participating in and driving continuous improvement efforts to improve bid delivery times, risk mitigation and customer satisfaction.
- Developing key client EPC and A&E relationships through all levels of the organization, including executives, engineers, procurement, quality and planning.
- Create and maintain client sales plans.
- With management, create entry strategies for new clients and projects.
- Utilize business and financial knowledge to create value propositions.
- Execute competitive sales tactics to win business.
- Secure Edwards Vacuum on the approved and preferred bidder’s list.
- Lead in client contract negotiations.
- Undertake ad‑hoc project work as required.
- University degree (Bachelor/Masters) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 5–10 years of result‑oriented experience with senior background in the rotating equipment industry, specifically within the process industry (petrochemical, chemical, power, O&G).
- Extensive experience working with EPCs and A&Es in quotation/proposal generation as well as project execution phases for complex systems involving multiple components such as motors, drives, heat transfer technology, vessels, instrumentation and controls.
- Ability to review and interpret complex EPC and A&E and end‑user specifications and lead all efforts within the organization and with major suppliers to offer technically advantageous solutions at a competitive price and within acceptable lead times.
- Ability to lead technical and commercial documentation in a detail‑oriented fashion.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and meet critical deadlines.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects, working with internal and external personnel to meet deadlines.
- Ability to learn and use new business and technical software, including customer document submittal portals.
- Ability to understand the general technical aspects of the products being sold.
- High proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
- Strong technical competency in rotating equipment and various applications within the process industry.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); knowledge of SAP advantageous.
- Excellent command of English in both writing and speaking; other languages advantageous.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with management and employees at all levels, with strong communication capabilities and the ability to empower team members.
