Cmf Engineer 2 - Polymers
We are seeking a full-time CMF Engineer 2 - Polymers at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering CMF solutions for products covering all market segments. Essential functions include delivering CMF solutions from initial requirements to product launch, maintaining industry knowledge of advances in material innovation and technology, developing CMF verification processes and developing/maintaining a CMF database, defining, executing, and communicating results of CMF explorations, determining root cause and delivering solutions for product quality and manufacturing issues related to CMF, driving continued education and development of materials-related knowledge throughout the organization.
Basic qualifications include a bachelor's degree in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer chemistry or related field and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) are required. Thorough knowledge and demonstrates ability to select CMF characterization/analysis tools are necessary.
Demonstrates knowledge, education, experience and/or training necessary to use tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and One Note. A curiosity for new CMF innovation, technology, process, design and future living is required. Open to pushing new boundaries, work extremely well in multi-disciplinary global teams, able to speak up, anticipate technical challenges and plan ahead. Looks beyond the immediate problem and generates new/innovative solutions to complex problems.
Be a strong communicator, sharing technical knowledge with non-technical partners in a clear and meaningful way (also challenges and constraints). Strong project management skills to drive new technology programs to deliver verified solutions from concept to manufacturing. Demonstrates proficient knowledge of a wide variety of materials and manufacturing methods (ex. plastic, silicone, metals, coatings, and more). Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and proficient presentation skills.
Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work respectfully with others.
Desired qualifications include experience working in the consumer electronics industry. Previous experience or knowledge of organic materials including, but not limited to, rigid plastics, silicones and rubbers, organic coatings, films or similar. Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) are preferred.
