Desense Engineer
We are seeking a full-time Desense Engineer at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. This is a full time Electrical Engineer with particular focus on Desense (noise, jamming) mitigation. As a Desense Engineer at Garmin, you will contribute to the architecture and product level design integration of next generation wireless radio solutions in all Garmin products. Essential functions include leading multi-radio coexistence through RF desense optimization, identifying noise sources and proposing remedies, creating software tools to integrate within wireless radio to check RF signals to root cause noise in the overall system, designing cellular RF hardware board as impedance matching, PCB layout review, bring up prototypes and coexistence validation with LTE/BT/WiFi/GNSS/NFC, defining RF hardware requirement, design and implement in factory test, and working with RF module/components suppliers and cross-functional teams to optimize RF performance.
Basic qualifications include a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a minimum of five years of industry experience in RF circuits design (cellular (LTE, UMTS), WiFi, BT, GNSS) or a master's/doctoral degree in electrical engineering with focus on RF/antennas and electromagnetics and a minimum of three years of industry experience in RF circuits design (cellular (LTE, UMTS), WiFi, BT, GNSS). Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) and demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to rally support from peers are also required.
