Systems Safety Engineer
We are seeking a full-time Aircraft Systems Engineer 2 for our locations in New Century, KS or Wichita, KS. In this role, you will lead the aircraft system safety assessment process to ensure compliance with safety standards. You will collaborate with system safety analysts to develop documentation, perform qualitative analysis, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and risk/common cause analyses necessary for certifying STC installations.
Responsibilities- Generate Functional Hazard Analysis and perform qualitative analysis, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and particular risk/common cause analyses to certify STC installations.
- Interface with Hardware, Software, and EMC groups to ensure appropriate design assurance levels.
- Approve test plans, reports, and other data supporting the system safety assessment process.
- Work with engineers to generate and approve compliance statements for regulations that require system safety substantiation.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to Aircraft Systems Engineer 1.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering and a minimum of 1 year relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Excellent academic record with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Detailed working knowledge of aircraft manuals and FAA certification content.
- Good understanding of FAA regulations and design for compliance.
- Solid understanding of commercial avionics interface standards and installations.
- Proficiency in software specific to job functions, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Solid Works, Fault Tree+.
- Advanced understanding of avionics, electrical/mechanical design, installation, and certification.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge in one or more technical areas:
Electrical Systems, Structures, Mechanical Systems, System Safety, HIRF/Lightning, or Aircraft Certification.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with system safety analysts to establish safety approaches and documentation.
- Experience generating Functional Hazard Analysis, qualitative analysis, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and particular risk/common cause analyses.
- Experience interfacing with Hardware, Software, and EMC groups.
Work in a new state-of-the-art facility with office hours from 8 AM to 5 PM. Approximately 15-20% of the time will be spent working at the New Century, KS airport.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Olathe, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $140000.00/yr. Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, 401K match, holiday pay
