Field Application Engineer 1
We are seeking a full-time Field Application Engineer 1. In this role, you will be responsible for providing engineering support to Marine and Recreational Vehicle (RV) Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers and assure the successful integration of Garmin equipment into their vehicles and vessels. You will work directly with the customer to assess electrical system needs, develop schematics, and participate in any line side support.
Essential functions include acting as a customer liaison with the Garmin technical team to assess and implement custom interfaces as needed, supporting development of project scope of work and system requirements, learning/applying Garmin electrical control logic and customer user interface to provide full integration as outlined in the scope of work and system requirements, partnering with the customer engineering team on system integration, acting as a liaison between customers and the engineering team on any custom software interface solutions, teaming with Field Service Engineers and Sales staff to service accounts, identifying/resolving defects as required, escalating issues if needed to the engineering team, providing feedback/recommended solutions to the engineering team on product performance and providing suggestions for future improvements, communicating status of work clearly providing visibility to manager or mentor, applying design standards and procedures to implement any vessel or vehicle solutions, documenting work in a thorough and organized manner, working collaboratively and professionally in a team environment with other Garmin associates to achieve goals, developing a minimum of three FAE team process improvements per year, contributing to team and organizational efficiency and impact, providing support to technical champions for improved system integrations, attending trade shows and dealer events as required.
Basic qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another technical Engineering related field OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge, patience and understanding that the Garmin customer is the highest priority at all times, demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, detail-oriented, ability to work proactively/effectively with minimal supervision, ability to prioritize/multi-task in a flexible, fast paced/challenging environment, driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems, excellent time management and follow-up skills, flexibility to travel (more than 30% of the time).
Desired qualifications include outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5), ABYC Certification, demonstrates proficient presentation skills.
