Product Developer (Full-time)
Product and Procurement | Location – Olathe, KS, 66022
The Product Developer is accountable for the development, lifecycle management, and performance of complex and highly technical materials and parts with significant risk to business continuity. This role ensures the right products are available in the TVH catalog at the right cost, quality, and risk level through effective supplier sourcing, evaluation, and performance management.
Responsibilities- Own product development and sourcing for complex, critical, and highly technical materials, parts, kits, and assemblies within assigned product groups
- Act as the product expert with deep understanding of parts, kits, BOM structures, make-or-buy decisions, and product development pathways
- Lead supplier‑enabled and custom manufacturing initiatives to mitigate risk and ensure business continuity
- Source, evaluate, and select existing and new suppliers in line with TVH requirements, internal guidelines, and risk criteria
- Analyze and evaluate quality results of product samples, resolve or elevate quality issues, and drive corrective actions
- Provide technical support to internal stakeholders, including Sales, to improve product and brand performance
- Own product lifecycle management from introduction through optimization and phase‑out
- Maintain accurate technical, supplier, product, brand, and compliance data, including category IDs, primary supplier, lead time, cost, and quality
- Provide product and category insights to Category and Market Managers and other stakeholders to support informed decision‑making
- Serve as a role model in technical expertise and product development practices
- Develop training materials and train colleagues across teams and functions, supporting knowledge transfer and capability development
- Experience or knowledge in product development, procurement, or technical sourcing within a distribution or multi‑SKU environment
- Proven ability to manage complex, critical, and highly technical product portfolios
- Strong understanding of supplier manufacturing capabilities, BOMs, kits, and custom manufacturing
- Ability to build and evaluate business cases and make data‑driven decisions
- Experience managing global suppliers and high‑risk portfolios
- Strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and stakeholder collaboration capabilities
