Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced, self‑motivated Postgre
SQL Database Administrator. The role involves developing best practices for database deployment, managing daily operations including break/fix, capacity management, backup and recovery, replication setup, and reviewing database changes. The candidate will build and maintain large‑scale, high‑transaction Postgre
SQL databases in both public and private cloud installations and collaborate with other teams to produce documentation and specifications.
- Provision Postgre
SQL instances, both in clustered and non‑clustered configurations. - Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases.
- Implement and maintain replication strategies.
- Analyze performance and implement improvements.
- Prepare documentation and specifications.
- Manage database software (patch and version management).
- Handle common database procedures, such as backup, recovery, migration, etc.
- Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Write scripts to generate ad‑hoc reports and perform data audits using Bash or Python.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Provide 24/7 support of production databases.
Required:
- Strong proficiency in Postgre
SQL database management and optimization. - Experience managing large‑scale Postgre
SQL databases. - Understanding of Postgre
SQL user access and authentication processes and controls. - Experience with replication configuration in Postgre
SQL. - Hands‑on experience designing and implementing database replication strategies.
- Knowledge of de‑facto standards and best practices in Postgre
SQL. - Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements.
- Knowledge of Postgre
SQL features such as pgagent or pgbouncer. - Ability to plan resource requirements from high‑level specifications.
- Knowledge of Postgre
SQL limitations and their workarounds compared to other relational databases. - Experience administering Debian or Ubuntu Linux.
- Able to work under pressure and multi‑task.
- Pro‑active, dedicated, committed, and responsible.
Desired:
- Experience managing MySQL or SQL Server.
- Ubuntu system administration.
- Experience with Redis.
- Experience with Zabbix.
- Experience with Rabbit
MQ. - Industry experience in iLottery or iGaming.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science with 5+ years experience with Postgre
SQL. - Master’s degree with 3+ years experience.
- Certified Postgre
SQL DBA is a plus.
