Hiring range: $67,104/yr. to $75,000/yr.
The City of Basehor, Kansas is currently recruiting Certified Law Enforcement Officers to serve as a Criminal Investigator in the Police Department’s Detective Bureau.
Basehor is a growing city in the southeast corner of Leavenworth County and is uniquely positioned with great accessibility to the Greater Kansas City Metro Area. The City of Basehor is positioned for fast growth from numerous proposed development projects.
The department has an authorized strength of 16 full-time officers and is seeking an experienced police officer who possesses the knowledge, skills and abilities to conduct complex investigations of felony and serious misdemeanor crimes to serve in our Detective Bureau.
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must possess a minimum of an Associate’s Degree, have 5 years full-time law enforcement experience, and possess advanced working knowledge of investigative practices and techniques including interviewing and interrogation practices; the identification, collection and processing of evidence; and the laws and practices governing custody, searches and seizures of persons and property.
Responsibilities- Conduct complex investigations of felony and serious misdemeanor crimes in the Detective Bureau.
- Perform investigative interviewing and interrogation, evidence collection and processing, and apply laws governing custody, searches and seizures.
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree.
- 5 years full-time law enforcement experience.
- Advanced working knowledge of investigative practices and techniques, including interviewing and interrogation, identification, collection and processing of evidence, and the laws and practices governing custody, searches and seizures of persons and property.
- Group health insurance coverage with low employee contributions for family coverage.
- KP&F retirement.
- 5.6 hours of PTO per pay period.
- All equipment supplied at the time of hire.
- 12 paid holidays, Holiday Worked Pay at double time and a half.
- Overtime after 40 hours of physical work per week.
- No residency requirement.
Selection process may include a skills assessment, an interview panel, and a full background investigation to include a medical and psychological examination, drug screen, and polygraph.
