Overview

We are seeking a full-time Lead Global Commodity Manager - Memory/Electrical at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for managing complex comprehensive strategic sourcing plans that create maximum benefits for the business.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for commodity strategies related to electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical products and or services including: sourcing strategy, spend segmentation, supply market analysis, supplier capabilities assessment, supplier recruitment and management, RFI/P/Q development, developing a business case for improved supply and/or service, risk assessment and management, leading complex negotiations while managing assigned commodities or services across multiple global sites
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to drive the execution of supply chain strategies in a collaborative and multi-site matrix environment to achieve both tactical and strategic goals
  • Coach/mentor/serve as a leader to less experienced GCM’s and provide assistance to less experienced GCMs on managing their workloads and able to lead and motivate cross functional teams to achieve goals
  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge and understanding of Commodities Managed
  • Proven track record of successful cost reduction initiatives and supplier relationship management
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of commodities and commodity market trends and serve as an expert in influencing, leading and driving project implementation of supply chain strategies and development of short- and long-term goals for management consideration in support of customer requirements
  • Manage and lead for multi-site negotiations and executions of sourcing agreements for assigned commodities and/or services
  • Lead and negotiate complex strategic agreements and drive cost, quality, delivery and service improvements across multiple departments and sites continuously
  • Manage and lead extensive projects and meet timelines
  • Use analytical and qualitative methods to analyze market commodities and product data
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and serve as a technical leader for assigned commodities and supply chain services
  • Demonstrate ability to contribute to the success of meetings and/or exceed departmental KPI’s
  • Organize, facilitate and manage cross-functional teams to develop commodity and service strategies
  • Partner and drive New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to ensure sourcing decisions achieve overall commodity objectives and all parts for prototype builds are available in advance
  • Identify, lead and help drive technical root cause and corrective action for assigned product or service responsibilities
  • Assure execution of Supplier Guidelines with responsible suppliers in support of various sites
  • A chieve positive peer and internal recognition within department and company
  • Demonstrate being a mature professional able to successfully carry out complex projects and/or participate in project leadership
  • Demonstrate support, mentoring and leadership of other Global Commodity Managers
  • Demonstrate support of other Strategic Supply Chain Mangers to maximize results

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related Operations or Engineering field AND a minimum of 9 years directly demonstrated experience in managing commodities OR an equivalent combination of education and related supply chain experience
  • Requires extensive demonstrated experience managing commodities with Executive level relationships
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal, written, negotiating, presenting and analytical skills
  • Must demonstrate a proven track record to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines across multiple time zones
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of the workings of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
  • Must possess demonstrated knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII)/Master Production Schedule (MPS) process
  • Demonstrated comprehensive technical knowledge within the commodity managed
