Overview
We are seeking a full‑time Project Manager 2 – Engineering – Web/Mobile at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will manage medium to large engineering projects of average complexity, including the development and execution of project plans and reporting of project status.
Essential Functions- Support project management process improvements and mentor less experienced Project Managers.
- Manage medium‑sized projects across business units with moderate guidance.
- Apply project management skills on medium to large engineering projects of average complexity, understanding, developing, and communicating project scope, milestones, and decisions.
- Use product‑domain knowledge and accepted processes, procedures, tools, and requirements.
- Identify and support process improvement activities.
- Drive projects to closure, apply judgment in identifying issues and risks, and create mitigation plans with assistance from mentor or direct supervisor.
- Maintain clear project status, documentation, and reporting for medium to large projects with established tools.
- Demonstrate communication skills, including listening, responding, and managing difficult conversations.
- Build relationships and gain alignment within the department.
- Resolve conflicts by understanding interdependencies and developing relationships between development team(s).
- Lead effective and efficient team meetings.
- Ensure team members/stakeholders are informed of project scope, schedule, and cost.
- Demonstrate ownership of projects with moderate involvement from Team Leader/Mentor; work toward being the single point of contact for project needs and contribution to success.
- Mentor and guide less‑experienced Project Managers.
- Apply Garmin’s Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy and exhibit enthusiasm for Garmin’s success.
- Participate in recruiting activities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
- Experience as a Project Manager working in a technical industry.
- Experience with stakeholder management, influencing without authority, risk identification, and dependency management.
- Experience with critical thinking and making data‑driven decisions.
- Experience managing several projects competing for space on the timeline.
- Must have Agile project experience.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, frequently adjusting priorities and navigating ambiguity.
- Ability to explain situations and challenges in detail to stakeholders.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Understanding of production and operations issues related to engineering project management.
- Team‑oriented, positive attitude, excellent time‑management, organizational, and follow‑up skills.
- Computer skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint) or similar.
- Ideal experience with process improvement.
