Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with departmental requirements and the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, models a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values, and helps achieve outstanding patient experiences and clinical outcomes.
- Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
- Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s) and documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Responds promptly to patient requests, anticipates patient needs, and resolves them proactively.
- Teaches patients, families, and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, translating complex terminology into clear, understandable language.
- Teaches non‑medicinal follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes, and prepares patients and families for future self‑management.
- Registered Nurse (RN) credential.
- Registered Nurse Diploma.
- Emergency Nurse (Pediatric Course or PALS).
- Advanced Pediatric Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support, to be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
- Advanced Trauma Care for Nurse or Trauma Nursing Core Course, to be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), to be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
