Vital Core Health Strategies (VCHS) is an industry leader in correctional health care with openings for full-time Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) at Johnson County Correctional Facilities in New Century and Olathe, Kansas for night shifts. We offer a $5 night shift differential and a sign-on bonus of $2,500 at 3 months and $2,500 at 6 months.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) delivers quality care within the scope of practice as defined by the state nurse practice act. The LPN handles tasks and activities as delegated and may assign duties to others as permitted by the state practice act. The LPN provides monitoring of patients as directed by the healthcare team (HSA, DON, RN, Medical Director or other practitioner).

• Full-Time
• 3-12 Hour Shifts per Week
• Nights

• Graduate from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program
• Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of employment
• Active BLS certification
• Knowledge of state laws and regulations governing practice
• Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies

• Utilize a systematic approach to meet the health needs of each patient
• Provide nursing care within the LPN scope of practice in compliance with applicable laws
• Assist in development and implementation of teaching plans addressing health promotion, maintenance, and restoration
• Care for wounds with appropriate cleaning and dressing
• Administer medications as prescribed
• Care for multiple patients as directed by the Medical Director, DON, or RN
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to appropriate medical staff
• Document actions in the MAR and medical records
• Perform other nursing duties as assigned by the facility
