Nursing Assistant (Night Shift)
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in assisted living. The NA provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a charge nurse. Responsibilities include bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, psychosocial support, personal care, transferring, repositioning, walking, range‑of‑motion and passive exercises, food preparation and dining, medication administration (as delegated), documentation, housekeeping, laundry, wellness and recreational program support, and participation of residents in activities.
Responsibilities- Assist with basic health care needs and daily living activities.
- Obtain and record vital signs, provide psychosocial support, and perform personal care.
- Assist with transferring, repositioning, and walking using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Support nursing staff with procedures, specimen collection, and non‑invasive body fluid collection.
- Administer prescribed medications within delegated scope, as defined by state regulations.
- Document outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Communicate changes in condition or care concerns to the charge nurse.
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to keep living areas clean.
- Assist with wellness and recreational programs and encourage resident participation.
- Follow infection prevention and control policies and use of personal protective equipment.
- Work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays; attend committee meetings as needed.
- Direct students when they provide resident care as part of training.
- High school graduate or GED (preferred).
- Minimum age 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in assisted living (preferred).
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing.
- Annual competency testing and at least 12 hours of continuing education per year.
- Required department certifications maintained.
- When applicable, certification/registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
- May be required to hold a valid driver’s license and meet medical requirements if the role includes driving duties.
