Microbiology - Quality Control Technologist Job Description

The Quality Control Technologist ensures that products consistently meet established quality, safety, and regulatory standards by performing laboratory testing, maintaining documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role involves working in a fast-paced laboratory environment, collaborating closely with the Quality Assurance team, and exercising Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to maintain high levels of product compliance and operational excellence.

• Review and maintain product compliance specifications and ensure all documentation remains accurate, current, and properly controlled.
• Gain proficiency in all assigned testing areas and perform laboratory tests according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Document testing results clearly and accurately, including recording data, observations, and conclusions in accordance with GMP, GLP, and ISO requirements.
• Evaluate and determine the aesthetic quality of finished products, ensuring they meet defined visual and quality standards.
• Maintain consistency and accuracy in training tasks and records within Master Control or equivalent documentation systems.
• Maintain and adhere to SOP criteria for inspection and testing activities, ensuring consistent application of procedures.
• Exercise full compliance with GMP and GLP requirements in all aspects of the work environment and testing processes.
• Collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance department as part of a unified quality team to resolve issues and support quality initiatives.
• Participate in and support continuous improvement programs within the department, identifying opportunities to enhance processes and efficiency.
• Understand and follow all safety requirements and procedures, including proper handling of materials, equipment, and laboratory hazards.
• Assist in maintaining standards in accordance with GMPs, SOPs, and ISO regulations, contributing to regulatory and audit readiness.

• Quality control or quality assurance experience in a laboratory setting, with a minimum combined 1–2 years of related QC/QA or microbiology laboratory work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Laboratory experience in a biological sciences laboratory, particularly in microbiology, is preferred.
• Familiarity with FDA regulations for medical devices or similar regulated products.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in an organized fashion while meeting deadlines in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to adapt to and learn new procedures while maintaining a scientific and objective approach.
• Strong teamwork spirit with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Self-motivated and highly responsible approach to work, with strong attention to detail.

• Experience working under GMP, GLP, and ISO-regulated environments.
• Exposure to medical device or related regulated industry environments.
• Demonstrated experience in documentation control and maintaining compliance records.
• Experience using Master Control or similar document management or quality management systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to document results and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced laboratory setting while maintaining accuracy and quality.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization.
• Ability to maintain a scientific mindset and objective approach when troubleshooting and interpreting test results.

This is a Contract position based out of Lenexa, KS.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
