Status: Part-Time, Full Time, Hourly, Daytime and Some Weekend Availability
Reporting Relationship: Store Manager
Work Schedule: Hours vary by season.
OverviewThe Grass Pad is hiring a Garden Center Customer Service to work in our Olathe location. When customers visit the Grass Pad, they are greeted by a Garden Center Customer Service who answers questions, helps them find the right products, and gives advice they need to be successful. No formal training in lawn or landscape is required; we provide on‑the‑job training.

- Have a friendly personality and enjoy talking to people; you will be the first person to greet customers.
- Enjoy working in an open air, team‑oriented environment that promotes responsible care of the environment.
- Have excellent communication skills and can explain complicated subjects in simple language.
- Have experience in customer service or sales.
- Bonus:
Have interest in lawn and landscape or outdoor activities.
- Greet customers and guide them through our lawn care program and quality grass seed.
- Help customers by problem solving their lawn or plant issues and answering questions.
- Bag seed for customers and write tickets for checkout.
- Plan and prepare quotes, purchase orders, shipping orders, or transfer orders.
- Assist with design and merchandising of the sales floor, including seasonal and promotional displays, signage, and rotating plants.
- Restock shelves and keep products clean and orderly.
- Clean and close the store/nursery at the end of each day.
- Complete the customer experience by loading and carrying out products for customers.
- Unload nursery trucks and organize new products into the nursery area.

SeasonalityOur busy season spikes in the spring and fall. Normal business hours vary with the season, with our longest opening hours during the spring and fall seasons. During the busy seasons, weekend and overtime work may be required.
Education and/or ExperienceAssociate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
