Job Summary:
To serve as building monitor for Bell Center and Cunningham Center, to be the “eyes” and “ears” providing security for the users of the building as well as keeping the building from misuse or vandalism and assist with events across campus as needed.
Work Experience Gained:
Building Monitors will learn skills in hospitality and client services; technical support and trouble-shooting; event set-up and planning; teamwork and time management; security and building upkeep.
- Be ready to ask guests in the building if they need assistance
- Check the weekly schedule to see which rooms may need to be opened during the shift, turning on lights and unlocking doors
- Walk through the building regularly to know who is in the building
- Turn off lights and lock doors that are no longer being used; work with Campus Safety to close the building at the end of the day
- Flexible work schedule, including weeknights and weekends as indicated by event calendar
- Assist with building set-ups and tear-downs as needed
- Understand the layouts and technical capabilities of both Bell Center and Cunningham Center.
- Bell Center Box Office Workers: facilitate ticket sales and fulfillment for Bell Center hosted programming, including event-specific hours of operation
- Cunningham Center:
Understanding of room equipment and technology operation - All staff are required to work at the minimum one shift in Bell and one shift in Cunningham each month.
- Strong communication and organization skills required, including ability to engage coworkers, clients, and guests (general public) clearly and professionally.
