Industrial Electrician - Blue Rapids, KS

Overview

The Georgia-Pacific Industrial Plasters facility located in Blue Rapids, Kansas is seeking motivated, safety-oriented individuals to join our Maintenance team as an Industrial Electrician.

As an Electrician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our facility, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and completing both scheduled and emergency repairs on plant equipment, machinery, and electrical systems that support the mining and processing of gypsum into specialty, agricultural, and building products.

Rotating 12‑hour 2‑2‑3 schedule from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Candidates must be able to work any shift, including holidays, weekends, overtime, and be available for on‑call responsibilities as needed.

Starting pay of $33.60 per hour plus a $5,000 sign‑on bonus.

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic equipment, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and machinery internal and external to the plant, and inspect equipment for potential downtime causes.
• Install new equipment.
• Record maintenance and repairs in the computerized maintenance management system (MP2 / SAP) and complete reports and work orders on time to keep accurate records.
• Collaborate with operations to identify and prioritize maintenance needs.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including performing proper lockout/tag‑out procedures and actively participating in the safety program.
• Keep all areas of responsibility clean and safe.
• Work in a team environment with fellow employees, supervisors, and managers.
• Follow any other job‑related instructions and perform any additional duties requested by the supervisor, including assisting mechanics or production operators as needed.
• Assist Process Controls Engineers and Maintenance Technicians as needed.

• Electrical maintenance experience in a commercial, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
• Mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

• Journeyman Electrical license or certification, or an associate degree in Electrical Maintenance.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 70 standards.
• Three (3) or more years of experience as an Industrial Electrician.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, PLCs, A/C and D/C motors, motor controllers and drives.
• Experience working with robotics.
• Experience working with 480 V and 4160 V systems.
