Avionics Technician Job Description
This role focuses on installing, repairing, and troubleshooting avionics and instrument systems on general and corporate aviation aircraft. You will work hands-on with modern avionics platforms, including Honeywell and Garmin systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation of aircraft avionics in a fast-paced maintenance environment.
ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and integrate avionics and instrument systems on general and corporate aviation aircraft.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair avionics issues using appropriate test equipment, documentation, and technical data.
Perform avionics installations, including wiring, terminations, mounting, and functional checks, in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.
Work with Honeywell and Garmin avionics equipment to perform upgrades, modifications, and repairs.
Inspect, test, and verify proper operation of installed or repaired avionics systems before aircraft release.
Document all work performed, including troubleshooting steps, repairs, parts used, and test results, in maintenance records and logs.
Follow all safety procedures, maintenance manuals, and regulatory requirements while performing avionics work.
Collaborate with other technicians and departments to coordinate aircraft availability and minimize downtime.
Support continuous improvement of avionics installation and repair processes by sharing feedback and best practices.
Prior experience in general and corporate avionics and instrument installation, repair, and troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience working with Honeywell avionics equipment.
Hands-on experience working with Garmin avionics equipment.
Strong avionics troubleshooting skills, including the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
Proficiency in avionics installation, including routing and terminating wiring, mounting components, and performing system checks.
Eligibility for an FAA Repairman Certificate.
At least 3 years of experience working on general aviation aircraft such as Cessna, Learjet, King Air, or Pilatus.
Experience working on commercial or military aircraft, combined with required general aviation experience.
Attention to detail and ability to follow regulatory and procedural requirements in avionics maintenance.
Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, onsite maintenance environment.
Skills & Qualifications
Avionics experience on general aviation aircraft, including light and mid-size jets and turboprops.
Experience with both commercial and military aircraft maintenance environments.
Familiarity with modern avionics systems and upgrades, particularly Honeywell and Garmin platforms.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Effective communication skills for documenting work and coordinating with team members.
Commitment to safety and adherence to maintenance best practices.
This is a Permanent position based out of Olathe, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $76960.00 - $83200.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
