Compensation

$40,248.00 annually. Salary may be dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

This position provides benefit eligibility determinations (new applications, re-certifications, and all changes) for Child Care, Cash, and Food Assistance through phone, face‑to‑face, computer, fax and mail. Work is completed within KEES computer system.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Use application, review, interim report, or change information to determine household and client information.
  • Follow team script/template and obtain required information during client interactions.
  • Use collateral contacts for verification and electronic data retrieval.
  • Utilize internal agency resources such as unemployment, Child Care, Social Security, etc.
  • Interview clients both face‑to‑face and by telephone to obtain information.
  • Apply program knowledge in Cash, Food Assistance, Child Care, and Medical programs.
  • Follow the Business Process Management Manual and use available system tools.
  • Determine program eligibility, benefit amount, and provide written notice.
  • Enter data into eligibility and case management systems (e.g., Image Now).
  • Maintain accurate documentation for phone records and database entries.
  • Communicate with clients about case status and provide referrals to internal and external services.
  • Coordinate with Work Program or Child Support regarding client meetings and program requirements.
  • Attend unit meetings, team huddles, regional policy sessions, and required trainings.
  • Complete other onsite or online training as assigned.
Qualifications

Required: Two years of experience interviewing, investigating, compiling information, documenting decisions, interpreting guidelines, and providing technical assistance relevant to the agency’s programs.

Preferred:

  • Experience interviewing clients for eligibility.
  • Experience with detailed documentation from client and collateral contacts.
  • Experience interpreting program guidelines.
Security & Tax Clearance
  • Background check (KBI) including criminal, welfare fraud, driver’s license and Child/Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry required with possible fingerprinting/FBI check.
  • Maintain security clearance throughout employment.
  • Valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate required within ten days of offer. Contact Kansas Department of Revenue for assistance.
