What You’ll Do- Communicate effectively with appropriate departments and individuals.
- Have a thorough understanding of applicable devices in the facility.
- Work safely to prevent on‑the‑job injuries by following safety rules and regulations at all times, including proper wearing of company PPE.
- Assist ARP planners with scheduling and prioritizing maintenance activities.
- Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment, hand tools and personal knowledge to determine root cause.
- Exercise judgment when troubleshooting AC/DC motor controls, PLC, electrical drives and all high‑voltage systems, keeping them up to site voltage maximums.
- Understand electrical and electronic schematics.
- Inspect and perform daily maintenance on all shop machinery, mobile equipment, HVAC systems, PLC networks and cranes.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, distribution control, fluidic and electrical systems/components and how they operate.
- Maintain specified records of work performed, details of repairs and material usage.
- Perform necessary maintenance tasks including repair or replacement of damaged parts, adjustments and calibration procedures, assembly, installation, testing and execution of preventative maintenance tasks on various forms of manufacturing equipment.
- Provide technical assistance to maintenance and production personnel as needed.
- Be responsible for daily housekeeping duties in the immediate work area.
- Use the SAP maintenance module in the execution of duties, utilizing computers to acquire information, document, account for time and corrective actions.
- Work with diagnostic equipment such as digital voltmeters, paper recorders, multimeters, oscilloscopes and other electronic tools.
- Assist in installing and servicing motors, control panels, lighting and wiring.
- Collaborate with mechanical and production teams to support equipment performance.
- Perform routine inspections and basic preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Support troubleshooting of electrical issues in heavy machinery, furnaces, rolling mills and automated equipment.
- Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work at heights for extended periods.
- AC/DC troubleshooting experience required.
- Electrical controls maintenance and repair proficiency.
- Knowledge of the melting, casting and rolling process and related equipment preferred.
- Minimum three years industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- MRO system and SAP system experience preferred.
- Experience and ability to demonstrate electrical and mechanical maintenance principles, concepts and troubleshooting techniques including hydraulics and pneumatics.
- NFPA 70E requirements preferred.
- Siemens or other PLC troubleshooting experience preferred.
- Strong multitasking abilities.
- Thorough understanding of electrical safe work practices.
- Basic AC/DC troubleshooting skills and ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Minimum one to two years industrial electrical experience; exposure to steel or heavy manufacturing preferred.
