Technician
The Technician operates heavy equipment to move soil and other materials on commercial remediation and drilling projects in New Jersey. This role focuses on safe and efficient operation of excavators and dozers, while also supporting the crew with ground work and general site activities.
Responsibilities- Operate excavators and dozers to move soil and other materials safely and efficiently on commercial remediation and drilling sites.
- Use both CAT and DEERE control systems on excavators with confidence and accuracy.
- Assist the crew on the ground with general labor tasks, including site preparation, material handling, and cleanup.
- Load and unload heavy equipment on trailers in a safe and controlled manner.
- Support remediation and drilling operations by following project plans and directions from site leadership.
- Maintain awareness of site conditions and hazards, and follow all safety procedures and environmental guidelines.
- Perform basic equipment checks and communicate any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Work collaboratively with a crew of 2–5 people, coordinating activities to keep projects on schedule.
- Proficiency in operating excavator and dozer equipment.
- Ability to operate excavators using both CAT and DEERE control systems.
- Experience working with heavy equipment in construction, remediation, or similar environments.
- Ability to assist with ground work and general labor tasks on active job sites.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with current 8-hour refresher.
- Knowledge of safe loading and unloading practices for heavy equipment on trailers.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with additional heavy equipment such as skid steer, backhoe, and other construction machinery.
- CDL Class A license is a strong plus for transporting equipment.
- Experience in construction, heavy equipment operation, or commercial remediation work.
- Comfort working outdoors in varying and sometimes harsh weather conditions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small, specialized crew.

WorkEnvironment
You work on commercial remediation and drilling projects as part of a crew of approximately 2–5 people, where each team member has a specialized role. The environment is field-based and outdoors, with regular exposure to harsh weather conditions, including both cold and hot temperatures. The position is structured as a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity, with the potential to transition to a permanent role based on performance.
You operate and work around heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, skid steers, backhoes, and trailers, following strict safety and environmental procedures on active job site.
This is a Contract position based out of Old Bridge, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
