At LEARN Transition Academy, we believe every young adult deserves the opportunity to live, work, learn, and participate as independently as possible in their community. Our transition program serves students ages 18-22 through individualized instruction focused on employment readiness, independent living, self-advocacy, communication, and meaningful community engagement.
We are seeking compassionate, energetic, and dedicated Intervention Specialists who are passionate about helping young adults gain the skills, confidence, and experiences needed for life beyond school. Why This Role Is DifferentAs an Intervention Specialist, you help young adults apply skills in authentic environments while preparing for adulthood. Every day brings opportunities to support students as they navigate real-world experiences, build confidence, and strengthen independence.
You Will- Support students in community-based instruction, vocational experiences, and work placements
- Teach and reinforce independent living skills such as cooking, shopping, budgeting, and community navigation
- Support employment readiness, workplace communication, and job-related skills
- Implement individualized transition goals and vocational supports
- Foster self-advocacy, self-determination, and decision-making skills
- Support social connections, recreation, and community participation
- Implement positive behavioral supports and individualized interventions
- Collaborate with families, teachers, therapists, employers, and community agencies
- Help create safe, inclusive environments that promote dignity, belonging, and independence
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys teaching practical life skills, working in the community, building meaningful relationships, and helping young adults achieve their goals.
QualificationsCandidates must meet one of the following requirements:
- Associate's Degree, completion of at least 60 college credits, or Bachelor's Degree; OR
- High School Diploma and successful completion of the Para Pro Assessment.
- Experience working with transition-age youth, autism, developmental disabilities, or related populations
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practice
- Ability to participate in community-based programming and travel within the community
