Position: Small Group Dog Hike Leader

Behavior-Focused Outdoor Role

Shoreline Happy Paws is hiring a confident, physically capable dog handler to lead small group enrichment hikes for our shoreline clients.

This is not a casual dog walking job. This role involves structured group outings, strong leash handling skills, reading dog body language, and maintaining calm, safe group dynamics. If you enjoy working with dogs beyond basic walks and want to build real handling experience, keep reading.

What You'll Do
  • Lead small group dog hikes on local trails
  • Manage group energy, leash safety, and spacing
  • Read dog behavior and prevent issues before they escalate
  • Transport dogs safely when applicable
  • Provide detailed photo and behavior updates to clients
  • Communicate clearly with leadership about dog dynamics

You will be trusted with multiple dogs fidence and calm energy are essential.

Schedule
  • Weekday availability required
  • Midday blocks between 9 AM and 3 PM
  • Early mornings and occasional evenings available for additional hours
  • Minimum 3 days per week
Who This Role Is For
  • Is physically strong and comfortable handling multiple large dogs
  • Understands dog body language
  • Can stay calm under pressure
  • Enjoys structured outdoor work
  • Wants to build deeper animal handling skills
  • Is dependable and consistent

Prior dog handling, training, kennel, vet tech, or shelter experience is a plus but not required. We provide paid training and Pet CPR certification.

Pay & Benefits
  • $17-23 per hour plus tips
  • Performance-based raises at 6 and 12 months
