General Education Teacher for Fall of 2026 Leonard Middle School (RSU 34)

Leonard Middle School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Grade 6 Math Teacher to join our team. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about building strong relationships, creating engaging learning experiences, and supporting the academic and social‑emotional growth of all students.

• Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned to state standards and district curriculum
• Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
• Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
• Monitor and assess student progress, using data to inform instruction, and be familiar with the BARR program
• Collaborate with grade-level teams, intervention staff, and special education staff to support math instruction and achievement
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
• Support school-wide expectations and contribute to a positive school culture
• Participate in professional development and continuous improvement efforts

• Maine Department of Education certification (or eligibility) in the appropriate content area
• Strong classroom management and relationship‑building skills
• Knowledge of best instructional practices and differentiation strategies
• Experience with data‑driven instruction (NWEA, Alex/IXL/Boost, or similar tools preferred)
• Commitment to collaboration and professional growth

• Ability to connect with middle school students and foster engagement
• Flexibility and responsiveness to student needs
• Willingness to contribute to school‑wide initiatives, including PBIS practices
• Positive, team‑oriented mindset
