The Head Football Coach is responsible for the leadership, development, and supervision of the Old Town High School football program. As the program enters the 8-man football era, the coach must be an adaptable strategist capable of managing smaller rosters while maintaining a high level of competitive excellence and student engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Leadership:
    Oversee all levels of the football program (Varsity and JV), including the recruitment and supervision of assistant coaches.
  • Tactical Adaptation:
    Develop and implement offensive, defensive, and special teams strategies specifically designed for 8-man football.
  • Student‑Athlete Development:
    Facilitate year‑round strength and conditioning programs and monitor the academic progress of all team members.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    Ensure all activities adhere to the Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) safety guidelines and eligibility rules.
  • Community Engagement:
    Serve as the primary spokesperson for the program, coordinating with the Old Town Booster Club and local youth football organizations.
Qualifications
  • Certification:
    Must hold or be eligible for a Maine Department of Education Criminal History Records Check (CHRC/Fingerprinting).
  • Experience:

    Prior varsity coaching experience is highly preferred, with specific knowledge of 8‑man football mechanics being a plus.
  • MPA Eligibility:
    Must complete required NFHS coaching videos, Sport First Aid, and CPR/AED certification within the first year of hire.
