Overview
As a Maintenance Technician at Tesco across Middleton, Oldham and surrounding areas, you will play a vital role in ensuring our stores remain safe, functional, and welcoming for customers and colleagues alike. You will be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly.
ResponsibilitiesYour specific responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks. To thrive in this role, you will need to:
- Confidently interact with external contractors: coordinating repairs seamlessly.
- Work collaboratively with the team: be a great colleague who understands the importance of quality service.
- Sustain high energy levels: juggling tasks while maintaining efficiency.
- Assist the management team: keeping our stores operating smoothly by maintaining equipment and facilities.
- Minimise customer disruption: coordinating repairs with minimal impact on our valued customers.
- Ensure all Tesco sites provide a safe and functioning environment for customers and colleagues.
- Follow the planned work schedule to achieve first‑time fix, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work closely with team members, sharing best practice and knowledge.
- Carry out general day‑to‑day store and property maintenance.
- Use mobile devices – phone and tablet – to drive the best approach for work completion and updates.
- Represent the Tesco brand by demonstrating our core values (serving customers, communities and planet a little better every day), maintaining a positive attitude and taking pride in wearing the Tesco uniform.
- Attend local and national meetings, providing valuable input and feedback.
- Support a diverse and inclusive culture.
As a vital part of our Maintenance team, you will demonstrate enthusiasm for maintaining high standards. With previous experience in a maintenance, engineering, or construction environment, you will be digitally confident using a tablet to view daily work schedules and manage emails.
- ONC or equivalent certification.
- Full driving licence.
- Health & safety awareness.
- Communication & collaboration skills.
- Office 365 knowledge.
- Completion of all technical training and upskilling modules relevant to the role.
