Permit Coordinator / Permitting Expeditor – Residential Construction
We are seeking a detail-oriented Permit Coordinator / Permitting Expeditor to join our growing residential construction team. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring permits are submitted, tracked, approved, and maintained to keep projects moving forward on schedule.
The ideal candidate has experience working with building permits, municipal agencies, and residential construction, along with exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities- Prepare, submit, and manage residential building permit applications.
- Track permit status and proactively follow up with municipalities to prevent project delays.
- Maintain all active permits, including renewals, revisions, and close-out documentation.
- Ensure regulatory requirements and permit conditions are met throughout the construction process.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments, municipalities, inspectors, and field personnel with a response time of 24 hours or less.
- Assist project teams and administrative staff with permitting-related documentation and processes.
- Support construction operations by ensuring permits remain current throughout the life of each project.
- Coordinate with field teams regarding inspections, permit compliance, and required documentation.
- Maintain accurate permit records and reporting within company systems.
- Work with public agencies and jurisdictions to resolve permitting issues efficiently.
- 1–2+ years of experience in permit coordination, permitting, or expediting within the construction industry.
- Experience with residential construction permitting strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of building departments, municipal permitting processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working with multiple municipalities and public agencies.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software or permit tracking systems.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams.
- Competitive salary up to $75,000, depending on experience
