PGS Worldwide is seeking an Electronics Assembly Technician in Oldsmar, FL for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Electronics Assembly Technician will perform hands-on production assembly, soldering, rework, inspection, cleaning, and testing on electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical assemblies. This role requires strong PCB soldering skills, through-hole and surface mount experience, microscope assembly ability, and the ability to work from drawings, bills of material, and manufacturing instructions.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of production and/or manufacturing experience.
  • 2–3 years of soldering experience.
  • Strong hand soldering skills with through-hole and surface mount components.
  • Ability to perform SMT and/or PTH soldering of printed circuit boards.
  • Experience with SMT and PTH rework and touch-up of PCBs.
  • Ability to install electronic components onto circuit boards using basic hand tools, materials, and processes.
  • Ability to perform soldering, wiring, routing, assembly, disassembly, touch-up, cleaning, and minor modifications to assemblies.
  • Ability to follow manufacturing aids and assembly work instructions.
  • Ability to read bills of material and follow manufacturing instructions.
  • Ability to work from diagrams, drawings, blueprints, assembly drawings, specifications, and layouts.
  • Knowledge of prototype assembly drawings and blueprint reading.
  • Ability to perform continuity checks on work in process and completed assemblies.
  • Ability to conduct quality inspections in accordance with quality specifications.
  • Ability to self-inspect product for defects before moving it to the next production step.
  • Ability to ensure assemblies meet quality standards and production timelines.
  • Component bonding, component assembly, and hardware assembly skills.
  • Ability to perform conformal coat processes.
  • Ability to perform module cleaning, potting, and testing.
  • Ability to assemble and test electronic and electro-mechanical products.
  • Ability to assemble small mechanical products, including springs, gears, and mechanical subassemblies.
  • Ability to learn and use benchtop equipment, test equipment, hand tools, and computers.
  • Ability to perform assembly and inspection under a microscope.
  • Aptitude and physical ability to work on very small mechanical assemblies.
  • Soldering skills and ability to become solder certified.
  • Good eyesight, including color vision.
  • Working knowledge of mechanics and electrical systems.
  • Above-average mechanical aptitude.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and innovative solution capabilities.
  • Motivated, fast learner, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to support complex and critical assemblies that may require knowledge of techniques, tools, materials, military standards, and ISO 9000.
  • Commitment to quality, attendance, productivity, safety, respect, integrity, and workplace rules.
  • Overtime may be required.

Preferred Skills

  • IPC-610 certification.
  • Past or present IPC certification.
  • Experience manufacturing aircraft instruments or electronics.
  • Previous OEM or EMS industry experience.
  • Experience operating PCB-area machinery such as wave solderers, CS-400, pinning machines, and solder fountains.
  • Experience with PCB assembly, circuit board assembly, electronics manufacturing, electro-mechanical assembly, microscope inspection, solder certification, conformal coating, potting, module cleaning, rework, touch-up, and prototype assembly.
