Solder Assembler

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Solder Assembler in Oldsmar, FL for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Solder Assembler will perform advanced soldering and rework on circuit card assemblies, including SMT, through-hole, BGA, QFN, fine-pitch components, high-density connectors, and related mechanical assembly. This role requires documented soldering experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under a microscope on complex electronic assemblies.

Required Skills
  • 5+ years of soldering and rework experience.
  • Documented soldering experience required.
  • Experience performing advanced rework on circuit card assemblies.
  • Experience with SMT and through-hole component soldering.
  • Experience with BGA reballing/replacement, QFN or leadless package rework, high-density connector rework, and complex SMT component replacement.
  • Experience using soldering irons, soldering stations, reflow ovens, and soldering machines.
  • Experience using microscopes to verify part placement and orientation.
  • Strong understanding of electronics assembly and repair principles.
  • Ability to inspect and troubleshoot assemblies for defects.
  • Ability to perform mechanical assembly related to circuit cards.
  • Ability to install stand-offs, spacers, hardware, adhesives, epoxies, and bonding agents.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while meeting quality standards.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to take and pass a required medical exam.
Preferred Skills
  • IPC soldering or rework certification, such as IPC-A-610 or IPC-7711/7721.
  • Experience with automated optical inspection and X-ray inspection systems.
  • Experience with X-ray machines and inspection/testing equipment.
  • Experience developing or implementing rework procedures.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams to resolve design or manufacturing issues.
What You'll Do
  • Perform advanced rework on circuit card assemblies.
  • Assemble and solder electronic components, including SMT and through-hole components.
  • Rework BGA, QFN, fine-pitch, high-density, and leadless package components.
  • Use microscopes, inspection tools, and soldering equipment to verify workmanship.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot assemblies to identify defects and improvement areas.
  • Perform mechanical assembly operations related to circuit cards.
  • Support rework procedure development for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow safety and quality standards.
Work Schedule / Shift
  • 1st shift.
  • Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM.
  • Overtime may be required, with up to 10 hours per week expected.
Pay
  • $20.00–$25.00/hour
