Description:

Plans, directs, and evaluates all Career Development Center and Adult Education operations, including workforce partnerships, career readiness initiatives, work-based learning programs, career events, and postsecondary readiness services. Provides strategic leadership to connect education with workforce opportunities and promote successful career outcomes for students and adult learners.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Career Development Center

    Duties include:
    • Provide overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for the Career Development Center.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate career development, workforce readiness, post-secondary readiness, and adult learning initiatives.
    • Establish annual goals, performance measure, and continuous improvement plans aligned with BOCES and district priorities.
    • Supervise Career Development Center staff, including program coordinators, instructors, and support personnel.
    • Manage departmental budgets, grants, contracts, and resources.
    • Be responsible for the CTE buildings in the absence of the building principal.
    • Maintain a current, comprehensive database of all Advisory Committee membership (names and contact information) in conjunction with the building Work Based Learning Coordinators and acts as a BOCES liaison to current members and potential members.
    • Attend faculty meetings at all 3 centers, when applicable.
    • Provide curricular and instructional leadership in collaboration with CTE principals.
    • Remain current with information, share with teachers, and oversee compliance, when applicable, with the Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTE), Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS), Department of Labor (DOL), etc.
    • Obtain general understanding of collective bargaining agreements and enforce provisions of those agreements.
  • Adult Education & Workforce Development

    Duties include:
    • Coordinate and supervise the planning, development & implementation of programs in Workforce Development and Literacy to meet needs of various student groups and business and community groups.
    • Collaborate with Workforce Development instructors to develop curriculum for existing & new programs.
    • Collaborate with key personnel to establish and expand class offerings, locations and scheduling of classes.
    • Supervise use of facilities for program purposes. Coordinate building use with key personnel.
    • Evaluate instructional programs, instructors and participant progress.
    • Develop & enforce guidelines for collecting & maintaining program participant data.
    • Maintain accurate records on student progress, attendance and conduct.
    • Oversee and collaborate with staff for recruitment, selection and staffing of various program offerings.
    • Conduct individual and faculty meetings to meet needs of programs.
    • Collaborate with appropriate personnel and outside agencies for marketing of Workforce Development programs.
    • Prepare and manage annual budget for Workforce Development & Literacy programming in conjunction with the Assistant Superintendent for CTE.
    • Prepare and submit all required reports for state or local annual program applications.
    • Prepare and submit grants associated with Workforce Development Programs and/or Career Development Center (CDC).
    • Participate in state and/or local meetings related to Workforce Development and/or literacy.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for CTE.

Evaluation:
Annually, as determined by the Assistant Superintendent for CTE

Terms of Employment: 12-month position

Tenure Area:
Building Principal

Salary: $90,000

Qualifications:

NYS Certification as School Building Leaser (SBL), School District Leader (SDL), School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS), or School District Administrator (SDA). Knowledge of current curriculum trends as aligned with NYS and National standards. Experience with budget and grant writing preferred.
