Provides specialized student support to international students and international study abroad students. Incumbents in this job classification are responsible for providing immigration advising services and new student orientation to meet the needs of the international student population. The International Advisor problem solves a variety of complex immigration issues requiring considerable knowledge of immigration rules and regulations. Incumbents work independently with decisions impacting students’ educational goals.

• Advise students on immigration regulations, institutional procedures, and maintenance of lawful status.
• Create, update, and maintain accurate SEVIS records and immigration documents.
• Advise students on employment eligibility and application processes, including on‑campus employment, OPT, CPT, STEM OPT, and Academic Training.
• Support university compliance with federal student reporting requirements.
• Develop and maintain immigration‑focused student communications.
• Collaborate with campus offices as necessary for immigration compliance.

• Bachelor’s degree (Required)
• No relevant experience required (Not Required)
• Strong organizational, problem‑solving, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to interpret and communicate complex regulations.
• Interest in supporting international students and scholars.
• Familiarity with international education, student services, federal immigration regulations, or university compliance is beneficial but not required.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident to serve as a Designated School Official and Alternate Responsible Officer and meet all federal eligibility requirements.
