This is seasoned‑level professional transportation engineering work involving complex design, design review, project planning, budgeting, project management, regulatory review, and technical consultation.
The incumbent performs engineering work with decision‑making authority within approved parameters on complex or high‑impact projects. Work may include interpreting engineering standards, reviewing compliance matters, developing specifications, evaluating proposed rules or statutory changes, mentoring lower‑level engineers, and providing expert technical advice to internal and external stakeholders.
QualificationsThis position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, licensure as a Professional Engineer, and 4‑6 years of experience.

- Preparing project plans, budgets, schedules, reports, and technical documentation
- Participating in the development of engineering specifications
- Reviewing rules, regulations, policies, and proposed statutory changes

- Providing technical guidance to lower‑level professional staff
- Mentoring engineers and other professional contributors
- Supervising engineering technicians as assigned
- Coordinating with consultants, contractors, public officials, committees, courts, commissions, and external engineering firms
- Serving as a technical resource or expert witness when needed
- Ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards and requirements
- Performing related duties as assigned
