- Perform research on repair parts, service procedures, and tool requirements.
- Obtain parts and service quotes from commercial vendors for automotive, construction, and heavy truck equipment.
- Use manufacturer parts and service manuals, electronic databases, and direct dealer communications to identify and price parts and services, ensuring 95% accuracy on orders.
- Carry out limited supply‑chain management tasks, including inventory, storage, and property utilization aligned with maintenance and repair activities.
- Maintain a storeroom with readily available parts to supply mechanics with common service items.
- Recognize high and low inventory limits and manage in‑stock numbers.
- Make recommendations to the Government on ready‑access parts and storage numbers based on usage rates, acquisition timelines, or demand.
- Conduct logistics support related to equipment maintenance, including shop cleanliness.
- Review mechanical worksheets and research sources of supply for needed repair parts.
- Familiarize oneself with manufacturer repair parts manuals, websites, and part listings.
- Conduct market research for parts via direct vendor contact, repair parts manuals, and internet‑based sources.
- Document and present market‑research findings to a Government Purchase Card (GPC) representative for execution.
- Under no circumstance place orders or make commitments on behalf of the Government; identify as a contract employee and refrain from ordering or decision‑making for the Government.
- May use Government‑owned vehicles for market research, parts comparison, and pickup of ready‑to‑receive orders.
- Minimum three (3) years as a mechanic or repair parts clerk in a commercial or Government automotive shop, handling multiple vehicle models including construction, heavy truck, and automotive equipment.
- ASE P1 (heavy truck) or P2 (automotive) exam pass, or experience as a commercial dealer ordering repair parts for automotive and heavy equipment as a primary responsibility.
