HowWill You Make an Impact?
As a Buyer II at our Memphis, TN facility , you will play a critical role in supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and ongoing production by ensuring the timely procurement of materials and components. You will partner closely with Planning, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to align purchasing activities with business requirements while driving supplier performance, cost optimization, and uninterrupted material availability for our Power Distribution Systems customers.
Location: On-site at our Memphis, TN facility.
What Will You Do?- Procure raw materials and components, with a focus on copper, steel, and other metal commodities , to support NPI and production schedules.
- Collaborate with Planning and Operations teams to ensure material availability aligns with demand forecasts and capacity plans.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to optimize cost, quality, and supply continuity.
- Monitor supplier performance and proactively resolve issues related to delivery, quality, capacity, or service.
- Maintain accurate purchasing data and transactions within ERP systems , including SAP.
- Analyze and manage inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities by ensuring timely material sourcing and supplier readiness.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance purchasing processes, supplier performance, and operational efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders across the organization.
- Monitor commodity markets and industry trends to identify potential risks and opportunities related to cost and supply.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procurement procedures, and ethical sourcing standards.
- Comply with all company security policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Typically reports to a Purchasing Manager, Supply Chain Manager, or Materials Manager . This position is not directly responsible for managing other employees .
How Will You Get Here?Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Experience procuring metals or commodity-based materials preferred.
- Experience supporting NPI, supply chain, or production operations preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
- Strong understanding of purchasing, procurement, and supply chain management principles .
- Experience working with ERP systems , preferably SAP.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other business software tools.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret demand forecasts and align purchasing strategies with business requirements.
- Knowledge of supplier relationship management and performance evaluation.
- Ability to analyze market trends and commodity pricing to support sourcing decisions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams including Planning, Operations, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.
