Responsibilities
Parkwood Behavioral Health System is a UHS facility located in DeSoto County, Mississippi. The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care on a designated unit consistent with the organization’s philosophy and objectives. Responsibilities include prescribing, coordinating, and delegating nursing care through the nursing process integrated into a multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care. The RN is accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and promotes professional nursing practice.
The RN may assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as required.
- Status:
Full-time - Hours/Days: 12‑hour shifts (7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.)
- Shift rotation: rotating nights
- Education:
Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program is required; BSN preferred. - Experience:
One year of prior psychiatric experience in mental health nursing preferred. - Licensure:
Mississippi Board of Nursing registration as a registered nurse, or a multi‑state license approved by the NCSBN. - Knowledge:
General and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships, age‑specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management, and CPR training. Must be flexible to reassignment to units caring for a varied population (male/female children, adolescents, and adults, including dual diagnoses).
