Job DescriptionJob Summary
The Float Nurse Practitioner at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care in various clinic settings, examining and treating a range of illnesses and injuries, performing diagnostic tests, and offering patient education. This position requires adaptability to different clinic environments and schedules as directed by the Float Pool Manager. The Float Nurse Practitioner must possess strong clinical skills, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to collaborate with physicians across diverse clinical scenarios.
JobFunctions
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients in the clinic setting according to the scope of practice outlined by the Board of Nursing, approved protocols, national standards of practice and as directed by the physician preceptor.
- Provide patients/families with education related to the disease process, health, and wellness. Serve as a resource for community agencies as appropriate.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient status and patient care activities including treatments, procedures and medications prescribed.
- Ensure clinical competence and stays abreast of changes in medical management by participating in a variety of health‑care education activities.
Education
Master’s Degree in nursing with appropriate licensure as an Advanced Practice Clinician

Licensed in State as a Nurse Practitioner

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Maintains and enhances knowledge and skills in current technology and practice to provide care to pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
