Overview
The PTA is a skilled technical worker who performs Physical Therapy treatment on patients of all ages, as supervised by a Licensed Physical Therapist.
Responsibilities- Follows established procedures in the application of physical modalities such as hot packs, ultrasound, ice packs, massage, electrical muscle stimulation, and traction.
- Trains patients in ambulation and/or corrective exercise, including the use of assistive devices.
- Instructs patients in the proper use of such assistive devices as wheelchairs, canes, braces, or prosthetic devices.
- Reports changes in the patient's condition and response to therapy interventions, then appropriately suggests treatment changes to the Licensed Physical Therapist (PT).
- Documents physical therapy treatment provided, including patient response to treatment.
- Educates family, caregivers, students, and other health care providers using relevant and effective teaching methods.
- Completes therapeutic modalities, as appropriate, including ultrasound, iontophoresis, and electrical muscle stimulation.
- Administers corrective exercise and manual techniques for stabilization, facilitation, or inhibition of movement.
- Completes daily documentation and charging in Therapy EMR.
- Coordinates and collaborates with the PT on patient treatment interventions.
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA)
- Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant (Required)
The compensation range for this position is $23.79per hour - $39.73per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
