Travel Med​/Surg Registered Nurse

American Traveler is seeking a Travel RN – Med/Surg for a 13‑week, 12‑hour night shift assignment in Olney, Illinois.

• Position in a hospital Med/Surg unit
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, three 12‑hour shifts per week
• Care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Utilizes specialized equipment such as IV access devices, chest tubes, PCA machines, blood glucose monitors, and kangaroo pumps
• Requires EPIC EMR system experience
• Provides initial assessment, develops and implements plans of care, revises as needed
• Performs unit‑specific procedures and patient therapies
• Ensures timely and accurate documentation and medication administration
• Promotes patient safety through adherence to safety protocols and fall prevention measures
• Engages in effective interdisciplinary communication and collaboration
• Delegates tasks to HCTs and validates completion
• Documents and communicates all aspects of care per unit standards
• May not remain on assignment more than one year; 6‑month break required before returning
• Requested time off cannot exceed 7 days during the 13‑week contract

• Active Illinois RN license or valid temporary license
• Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience
• Associate’s degree in Nursing (ASN) required
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Previous Level 1 Trauma experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Fluency in English (speak, read, write)
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted)
