Overview
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift travel assignment in Olney, IL, requiring Epic EMR experience and an IL RN license.
Requirements- Active IL RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience
- ASN degree or higher
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, fall precautions, patient ambulation safety, and medication administration
- Strong critical thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient care coordination skills
- Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population spans neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- Weekend shifts required as needed
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- No on-call responsibilities
- No floating requirements
- Procedures include peripheral and central line IV access (PICC, Infusaport), IM/SQ injections, chest tube insertion and management, thoracentesis, paracentesis, TPN administration, thrombolytic therapy, and central line insertion
- Equipment used includes sequential compression devices, blood glucose monitors, PCA machines, and Kangaroo pumps
- Epic EMR experience required
- Completes patient admissions, assessments, and develops individualized care plans in accordance with unit standards
- Delegates tasks to healthcare technicians and validates completion throughout the shift
- Focuses on patient safety and satisfaction through hourly rounding, whiteboard use, and bedside shift reporting
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position — local candidates are not accepted
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract
- Contingent workers may not be on continuous assignment with this health system for more than 1 year; a 6-month break in service is required before returning to any location within the health system after reaching that threshold
