Overview
The Nurse Manager manages and coordinates the FMS Department (LDRP's, Nursery I, Nursery II, antepartum, gynecology, and outpatient testing). The Nurse Manager directs and supervises functions and activities. Interprets policies, procedures, standards, regulations as appropriate to personnel, medical staff, patients, and public. He/she performs duties in any nursing capability as needed. The Nurse Manager maintains public relations of the unit as in: teaching classes, civic functions, and public speaking.

- Nursing - 5 years
Specialized Knowledge:
- Familiarity with current nursing practices.
- Ability to develop people.
- Experience in project management.
- Knowledge of fiscal management.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of EMTALA and Emergency Nursing.
- Determines nursing unit philosophy and implements the nursing process for the delivery of patient care.
- Formulates standards of nursing care in accordance with treatment modalities and goals of the unit.
- Prepares and maintains unit policies and procedures.
- Determines unit needs for personnel, supplies, and physical facilities.
- Interview, hire, consults, evaluates, disciplines, and terminates nursing personnel assigned to the unit.
- Forecasts future needs of the unit through constructing, evaluating, and communicating annual unit objectives, and identifying changing patient needs in areas of nursing skills, equipment and supplies for the purpose of adapting policies, procedures, and nursing skills.
- Reviewing pertinent historical data pertaining to census, and patient classification.
- Evaluates department performance and effects changes as needed to improve care and services.
- Solves problems, grievances, and maintains good relations.
- Directs unit conferences with in-services and other educational programs as needed.
- Analyzes area needs, studies new trends and development.
- Ability to make recommendations to Nursing Administration.
- Coordinates Family Maternity Services with other nursing units and other hospital departments.
- Reviews Med-Trend reports and follows up in a timely manner.
- Conducts patient rounds on a regular basis to ensure quality nursing care.
- Maintains required records, reports, and statistics for administrative purposes and budget preparation.
- Maintains established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
- Manages unit within allotted productivity allowance.
- Submit reports required by Administration, the State Public Health Department, and our Perinatal Center.
The compensation range for this position is $44.15 per hour - $75.94 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
