Overview
Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Must be able to take "Call" on a rotating basis during week, weekends and holidays and able to arrive to the department in 20 minutes or less.

- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 1 year (American Heart Association)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days (American Heart Association)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 year (American Heart Association)
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- College Diploma in Nursing
- Relevant work experience
- Perform all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service.
- Implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided.
- Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards.
- Implement plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
- Modify plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.
- Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicate with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues.
- Offer constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers.
- Identify own learning needs and take initiative to pursue appropriate solutions.
- Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies.
- Prepare OR suite for patient, including supplies, equipment, medications, and other needs.
- Interview patient using identifiers (name and birthdate).
- Transport patient to appropriate OR suite and onto OR table using safety precautions, perform timeouts prior to incision and prior to exiting OR.
- Appropriately position and prepare patient for procedure using positional aids and guidelines.
- Support surgical team during procedure, responding to requests for supplies, blood, specimens, cultures, other medications, dressing, etc.
- Transport patient to PACU or specific unit and provide handoff to receiving RN.
- Provide clear and accurate documentation throughout preop and PACU.
- Assist in admitting patients to PACU, provide direct patient care to patients emerging from anesthesia post‑op.
- Provide care in PACU to ASPAN standards.
The compensation range for this position is $35.87 per hour - $58.37 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
