American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring an active IL RN license and at least one year of relevant nursing experience.
Details- Work in the Med/Surg unit of a hospital setting
- Cares for patients across the lifespan including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
- Uses equipment such as PCA machines, kangaroo pumps, and sequential compression devices
- Performs procedures including central line insertion, chest tube insertion and management, thoracentesis, and paracentesis
- Uses Epic for charting
- Night shift schedule from 6:00pm to 6:30am
- 36 hours per week across three 12-hour shifts
- Weekend and holiday shifts required as needed
- Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience
- ASN required
- Epic charting experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Skilled in IV access (peripheral, central line, PICC, and/or Infusaport), IM and SQ injections
- Experience with TPN administration, thrombolytic therapy, and blood glucose monitoring
- Strong critical thinking and emergency response skills
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient and family needs
- Deliver bedside shift report and maintain updated patient communication boards for continuity of care
- Delegate and validate completion of patient care tasks assigned to health care technicians
- Administer medications following the 5 Rights of medication administration
- Maintain patient safety through fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and isolation precautions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and promote positive outcomes
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for consideration
- RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
