We are hiring a senior‑level fiscal analyst to support the agency’s transition from legacy financial systems to the statewide One Washington initiative and to ensure seamless operational continuity of our Accounting Office.
Responsibilities- Process transactions including cash receipts, payroll, and vendor payments.
- Prepare and adjust journal entries.
- Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.
- Assist with financial and operational audits.
- Research and correct account discrepancies.
- Review, reconcile, and resolve general ledger differences.
- Analyze and reconcile DVA systems to AFRS or bank statements.
- Assist in the evaluation of internal controls.
- Prepare financial reports.
- Assist with monthly and fiscal year‑end closing.
- Review and approve work normally performed by supervisors and managers.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or public administration, including 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or finance.
- Three or more years of relevant professional experience.
- Master’s degree in a financial‑related field.
- Certification as a CPA, internal auditor, CGFM, or Management Accountant.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Proficiency in the English language.
- Ability to learn, grow, and meet the needs of others.
- Washington State accounting experience (AR, AP, federal grant requirements).
- At least three years with state accounting systems (AFRS, Enterprise Reporting, Toolbox, TEMS).
- Familiarity with state administrative and accounting requirements.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and advanced analytical skills.
- Must pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check every two years.
- Must maintain reliable attendance.
- Must complete required orientation and mandatory training on schedule.
- Must comply with all DVA policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Must sign the confidentiality statement.
- Travel requires valid unrestricted driver’s license and insurance for private vehicle use on state business.
- Offer requires non‑sponsorship work authorization.
