The Department of Labor & Industries is hiring an L&I Auditor 3 to support the agency’s mission by ensuring employers carry industrial insurance and pay the correct premiums. The auditor conducts audits of business financial records, evaluates compliance, and provides consulting and technical assistance.
Duties- Identify businesses suspected of non‑compliance.
- Screen, schedule, coordinate, and conduct audits of business financial records.
- Evaluate and verify financial records.
- Conduct computer research on firm’s accounts with other agency programs.
- Review employment contracts and conduct fact‑finding interviews.
- Perform on‑site tours of employer facilities and survey business activity.
- Prepare audit reports.
- Prepare subpoenas and other legal documents; testify at appeal and court proceedings.
- Complete the L&I Auditor Training Program.
- Perform field audit standard processes.
- Respond to inquiries about reporting requirements.
- Minimum of 20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting (may include credits from one Finance or Business Law class).
- Two years of professional accounting or auditing experience for Auditor 1 and 2; two years for Auditor
3. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with at least the required accounting hours. - Successful completion of the L&I Auditor Training Program qualifies for the Auditor 3 level.
- A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics or related field, or an equivalent professional certification, may substitute for one year of required experience.
- Strong knowledge of RCW Title 51, WAC 296‑17, and WAC 296‑17A is desired.

Salary- Auditor 1: $4,108‑$5,506 per month
- Auditor 2: $4,406‑$5,928 per month
- Auditor 3: $4,866‑$6,542 per month
Assigned duty station:
Tumwater, WA. This is a hybrid position with required in‑office time. Telework will be discussed didates must possess work authorization that does not require sponsorship.
