This position is within the Supported Employment in State Government (SESG) Program per the requirements of RCW 41.04.770. Applicants must be eligible for the SESG Program and also meet the qualifications for this position.

Our Programs and Services Division (PSD) has a great opportunity for an Office Assistant to join their Application and Issuance team!

As one of the most visible state agencies and the second‑largest revenue generator in Washington State, we engage with over six million residents each year and collect nearly three billion dollars in taxes and fees. As the Office Assistant, you will manage routine tasks effectively, track work progress, and work alongside a supportive team. You will be responsible for filing, sorting, data entry, and document handling. Your contributions will play a vital role in ensuring customer documents are processed accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks such as copying, filing, faxing, shredding, and sending documents as assigned.
  • Perform online renewals, vault duties such as organizing, inventory deliveries, lifting and handling boxes of license plates, stuffing envelopes with inventory, moving supply orders, and assisting other team members with similar tasks.
  • Analyze documents for accuracy and completeness while following strict security procedures.
  • Manage and organize all incoming mailed correspondence directed to the unit.
Qualifications
  • Two years of experience and responsibility in an office performing one or more of the following:
    • Clerical or administrative duties such as reviewing documents, records, reports, or applications for completeness and accuracy and basic office production functions.
    • Data entry.
    • Customer service.
  • The ability to:

Desirable Experience
  • One year experience composing clear, professionally appropriate, technically correct, and step‑by‑step instruction responses to customers.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, or similar systems.
  • Experience applying complex rules, laws, and policies or procedures to business practices.
  • Experience using various functionality within DRIVES or similar systems.
  • The ability to investigate inventory discrepancies.
Additional Conditions of Employment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
SESG Program Qualifications
  • Have a developmental disability as defined in RCW 71A.10.020 or experience a significant disability as defined in the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 that seriously limits one or more functional capacities.
  • Require supported employment on the job training and long‑term support to satisfactorily perform job duties.
  • Have a reliable source of long‑term support.
