This role will be based in Washington, D.C. and is part of Met Life Investment Management (MIM), headquartered in Whippany, New Jersey. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of portfolio and asset‑management strategies for emissions reduction, climate risk management, data improvement, energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, renewable‑energy procurement, green‑building certifications, and embodied‑carbon tracking.
  • Oversee and complete annual sustainability reporting requirements (e.g., GRESB, PRI, EPA POY, DOE BB+BCC, ULI) in partnership with third‑party consultants.
  • Monitor and evaluate compliance with jurisdictional ordinances, including Building Performance Standards, Energy and Water Benchmarking Laws, SEC, and California Senate Bills, and communicate risks to stakeholders.
  • Advise portfolio and asset managers on renewable‑energy strategies, including on‑site solar installations (PPAs, EPCs, Community Solar), green‑energy procurement, hedging, and REC transactions, collaborating with energy brokers, project managers, and consultants.
  • Prepare memoranda on physical and transition climate risks and key sustainability ROI opportunities for new real‑estate deals; participate in discussions with business partners and investment committees.
  • Respond to client, prospect, and partner requests, including RFPs, questionnaires, and presentations.
  • Assist with the procurement, onboarding, and management of sustainability software, consultants, and vendors; perform ad‑hoc reporting and data tracking using internal and external systems.
  • Collaborate with the Research Team on underwriting guidance and drafting of white papers for internal and external publication, demonstrating thought leadership.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams on a wide range of sustainability initiatives.
  • Represent MIM at industry events (e.g., Green build, DOE BB+BCC, EPA POY, IMN) and attend field visits and off‑site meetings as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, environmental studies, sustainability, or a related field.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in sustainability, real‑estate asset management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of carbon accounting, energy and water efficiency, climate risk, and green‑building certifications is preferred.
  • Work authorization required.

Salary

Expected salary range: $145,000 to $205,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short‑term incentive compensation and stock‑based long‑term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
